Molveno and its Lake
Molveno Lake is a lake in Trentino, located in the municipality of Molveno and is the deepest in Trentino with a maximum depth of 123 meters. It is swimmable and has a vast and beautiful beach. Molveno with its lake became famous starting from 1864 when international travelers and mountaineers began to explore the Brenta Group Dolomites and its peaks as well as the region.
The delightful location of Lake Molveno, with its small town reflected in the emerald waters and spires of the Brenta Dolomites, has made Molveno a coveted and sought-after destination for the aristocracy of Northern Europe since the early 1900s also accomplice to the exploratory mountaineering that was developing in those years.
The uniqueness of Lake Molveno, besides being a natural alpine lake, is due to the fishiness of its waters rich in valuable fish such as char (which has come to us since prehistoric times), perch, pike, and marble trout.
The "Lido di Molveno" during the summer is popular with many tourists and bathers to enjoy a regenerating swim in the cool waters and relax on the green beach made of a soft lawn.
Going around the lake, on foot or by mountain bike turns out to be a first and interesting approach to getting to know Molveno and its lake, thus appreciating the different perspectives and unusual panoramic viewpoints.
In addition, on the orographic right bank of the lake, in the Dos Corno locality, there are still traces of the fortifications of the Austrian army that fought against the French, later named Napoleon's Fortini, which can be reached by crossing the Roman bridge, where the rio ceda flows into Molveno lake, and reaching the Dos Corno hill, in whose locality the eponymous Baita Fortini di Napoleone is also located.
Molveno and the Brenta Dolomites
The small village of Molveno is located at an altitude of 864 meters, at the foot of the Brenta Group, a famous Dolomite massif in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park.
The Brenta Dolomites, although already known and frequented by the inhabitants of Molveno as shepherds and hunters, became from 1864 onwards an even more sought-after destination for explorers and mountaineers because of the beauty and difficulty of the peaks.
In fact, this new tourist stream of mountaineering explorers and climbers sought out local hunters for their knowledge of the terrain and trails to reach the base of the walls they wanted to climb.
The Brenta Dolomites thus become a playground and challenge ground for the conquest of peaks and spires not yet climbed by man. Over time and up to present day, Molveno thus becomes a coveted tourist destination for vacation, recreation and action, attracting the interest of a new and ever-growing stream of tourists who want to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of Molveno and its lake.
